At Sommarøy we have lunch at Arctic Hotel, creamed fish soup with homemade bread, coffee and tea. Then one of the highlights of this trip starts with a boat trip around the islands on the outside of Kvaløya. The nature here is amacing and the wildlife is rich; otter, eagle and other seabirds can be experienced closely from the boat all year long and from November to February there may be opportunities to see killer whales and humpback whales. This is a perfect family-friendly day trip for those who want to photograph and experience the Arctic light and wildlife from the country side and from the sea side. Whalesafari in a small exclusive group
25. October – 25. February
Hvalsafari til Skjervøy
We offer whale watching in Tromsø for a small group of 3-7 people.
When herring comes, the killer whale and the humpbackwhale are never far away. If you want to experience these powerful creatures close in a small exclusive group, this is something for you! During this season there is a wonderful arctic light in the sky, which is called the “blue hour”, and we recommend taking a camera with you. If we are lucky, we will also experience the Northern Lights.
We pick you up in Tromsø and drive for 15 minutes to Kaldfjord where the whales are located and during the drive we will inform about the trip and the whales. We go out in a safe and warm offshore certified boat with walkaraound and a small flybridge with 360 degree views, giving you a good view of the whales. In addition to humpback whales and killer whales, we often see eagles, seals and cormorants.
During the trip we will serve hot drinks, this can be enjoyed in our warm steering house if the cold bites. We have fishing gear on board and will try to catch fish if it is desirable.
We cannot give a guarantee that we see any whales or humbacks, but in the latest seasons we have observed them on almost every trip.
